We will only utilize customer information for lawful purposes. Whether information is obtained directly from you or is generated during the course of our business relationship with you, it will remain confidential. Customer information will not be used, collected, or retained unless Alaska Pacific Bank has a legitimate business purpose to do so.

Because we take your privacy seriously at Alaska Pacific Bank, we limit the availability of your information to our employees. Employees may only access your information for legitimate business purposes. Each employee has been made aware of his or her responsibilities to safeguard your personal information and must agree and comply with the bank’s Code of Ethics.

Information We Collect

We may collect “nonpublic personal information” about you from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on applications, other loan and account forms, and cookies* which may be collected when you visit our web site.
  • Information regarding your transactions with us or others.
  • Information we receive from third parties such as credit bureaus.

Information We Share with Third-party Providers

We will never sell your personal information to anyone.  There are some instances where we contract with a third-party vendor to provide banking-related services for us, which may involve sharing customer information. These vendors are required to sign/submit a confidentiality statement and infringement will result in the cancellation of our service contract. In addition, these vendors are prohibited from using this information for their own purposes, and all documents and records must be safeguarded. Examples of third-party vendors include the companies that help us process our ATM transactions, provide specific Online Bill Payment services for us, partner with us to offer online banking services, and the company that prints our customers’ checks.

Disclosure of Account Information

We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our customers and former customers to anyone except as permitted by law, or authorized by the customer.

Tips to Protect Your Privacy

You can help protect the confidentiality of your personal information and your account(s) with us by following a few basic guidelines.

  • An Alaska Pacific Bank employee will never call and ask you for personal account information that we already know unless we are responding to a transaction you initiated or we are contacting you with time-sensitive information on your accounts, in which case we will give you the opportunity to call us back at a published number for the bank.
  • If you call us regarding your account(s), we will ask you to confirm personal information to establish your identity before we release information about your account. This is for your protection.
  • An Alaska Pacific Bank employee will never email and ask you for personal account information we already know. We will not send personal account information via email in response to emailed requests. Rather we will respond with a request for you to call us to verify your identity.
  • You should contact us to report any unusual or suspicious request for confidential information from someone who claims to be a bank employee. If you receive one of these requests, ask the caller for his or her name and telephone number, hang up, and call your local Alaska Pacific Bank office to confirm the identity of the caller.
  • Never give out account information, credit card or Social Security numbers, your mother’s maiden name or other personal information to someone you do not know, unless you initiate the contact and you trust the person/company.
  • Be sure you receive and review your bank account statements on a timely basis. Fraud can involve attempts to change your address so you don’t receive your account statement, and therefore, never see the fraudulent transactions on your statement. Make sure that you have authorized all charges made to your account and report any discrepancies to us immediately.

Stay Up-to-date for Your Protection

  • Visit the federal government’s website www.consumer.gov to learn more about privacy, fraud, and identity theft.

Personal banking customers with an active account at Alaska Pacific Bank are mailed a copy of our Privacy Notice annually, as required by law, and a current copy is posted on our web site. We reserve the right to modify this policy, with 30 days notice.
